Safety Protocols

At MLMP, our focus is on being prepared to better support everyone – our clients, therapists, staff and our communities – in a safe, respectful and responsible way.

We believe access to physical and massage therapy is essential to maintaining the health and wellbeing of the public.

The safety of our clients and staff is our top priority. We have developed specific policies and procedures to keep clients, therapists, and staff safe.

We continue to provide training to all our therapists and staff. As a regulated profession, we follow the directions of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba (CPM). We regularly monitor Public Health guidance and update our practice accordingly.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS

  1.     In-Person Care/Screening

MLMP is an exclusively in-person practice! All clients considering services will complete a screening process with our administrators before the session proceeds and an intake form with thorough history with their PT/RMT at the start of their in-person session. Upon completion of the screening or intake, the PT/RMT may adapt the session plan to ensure the health and safety of both the client and therapist if necessary. This can include liaising with caregivers and facilities to determine any specific needs and preparations for a successful session.

2.      Telehealth

We can deliver services by telehealth, if appropriate. Our physiotherapists can provide remote care services by phone, email, and video. Telehealth can allow live, confidential, and safe interactions with a physiotherapist. We have developed protocols and plans that follow the guidelines of the College of Physiotherapy of Manitoba (CPM). Our goal is to provide remote therapy through telehealth that is meaningful and appropriate.

3.      Use of Personal Protective Equipment

As per current Shared Health guidelines our therapists are not required to wear masks during direct client care. Clients can request clinicians mask during their session at any time relative to their comfort. Clients are welcome but not required to wear masks. We abide by any additional requirements of residential and medical facilities including additional PPE as required

4.      Hand Hygiene

Our therapists have been trained regarding proper hand hygiene protocols. Therapists will perform proper hand hygiene upon arrival and completion of appointments. If possible, please provide an area for therapists to wash and dry their hands with a clean towel/paper towel.

5.      Staying Home When Sick

Staff members will not attend work when sick. They will follow the recommendations of their physician or Shared Health requirements to ensure client safety.

6.      Safety Measure Updates

We follow the directions of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba (CPM). We regularly monitor developments and guidance from our College, Shared Health and the Government of Canada. We review all guidance and update policies and procedures accordingly.
